Questions, Questions, Questions

I have been a question-setter for several years, submitting challenging puzzles for some of the most long-running quiz shows including, BBC Radio 4's Round Britain Quiz and Brain of Britain.

RBQ questions are cryptic and generally have 5 or 6 elements. Some of my submissions are shown below, for you to try and solve.

Round Britain Quiz

  • Square the following: The truth in the Georgian azaleas, a famous thicket at a racetrack, bovines on the cricket field, and the last turn before home on a Surrey course. ​​

  • Who was the mother of: The forget-me-not with the Flowertots, Stranglers fruits, the angry inhabitant of The Faraway Tree and Barrie’s most beautiful of dusky Dianas?

  • Which is the odd one out: Mr Tureaud’s A-rated persona; Mr Harris’s baby; an Evel showman; or a Dutch gunner?

  • If you posted one letter in the granite city, one at a literary festival, one at Sandy Park, and two letters in Captain Cook's homeland; where would they all arrive?

  • Put these in order: An Amazonian stream, Icons from Piaggio, Charles’ archbishop’s, An inappropriate and unwelcome message, A reworked preyer, And the absence of all things.
